𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?
I have always been fascinated and interested with the construction and design of buildings. I have several family members that are in the construction industry and I knew I wanted to be involved somehow. Being a part of a project from the design phase and seeing results from your work is very rewarding.
𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫.
I started with Acres almost two years ago as a Project Coordinator and moved into the estimating role a few months ago. As an estimator, I prepare proposal and tender submissions for all general contracting work. These submissions include company and project team information, methodologies, and most importantly – pricing. I source materials and subcontractors for different scopes of work and estimate labour for self-performed tasks.

Develop confidence in yourself and don’t be afraid to share your ideas. Don’t hesitate to give an idea to your team, it might just be what the team needs.
Never be afraid to ask questions! Also, keep up on your mental and physical health. Really taking care of yourself has both health and career benefits.
