Community Involvement

CAMPOUT TO END YOUTH HOMELESSNESS

This year has proven to be a difficult one for us all, but for certain youth that face challenges everyday, this can include homelessness. As Acres wanted to bring this issue to a larger spotlight we took part in an overnight campout with our leaders and even board members spending a night out on the streets.

KAMLOOPS FOOD BANK

Acres is a big supporter of the Kamloops Food Bank. We regularly volunteer our time sorting food and preparing hampers. Our amazing staff also takes part in the Spring and Fall Rotary Food drives which bring in much needed canned goods and baby products for our community.

Indigenous partnerships

Acres works in partnership with many First Nations in BC. We recently have grown our partnerships with the Sugarcane Development Corporation First Nations band from Williams Lake. We are honored to be part of this initiative, emphasizing reconciliation and recognition for First Nations and the land.

Pink Shirt Day

Respectful and supportive are two core values that the Acres family strongly believes in and lives by — both inside and outside the workplace. That’s why every year, the Acres team proudly participates in Pink Shirt Day and takes a stand against bullying.

women in trades

Acres is proud to be an avid supporter of empowering Women in Trades as we believe women don’t only belong in construction but are essential to it. Acres works directly with   TRU, providing scholarships, mentorship, and employment opportunities. This also includes working with kids in early years showing them the power of current female roles in the trades and technology fields.
